Hemploe Hills

Simply stunning walk 1 mile south of Welford through the breathtaking former grounds of Hemploe Hall.  There are a number of routes you can take, and the video shows a 6-mile round loop.

local canal walks

Stop for a break at Foxton Locks mid way on a canal walk, where you can go for a bite to eat, a cold beer or ice cream before returning back to your starting point. Park and pick up the canal accessing from a bridge. (choose one the right distance for you and then simply walk there and back again, or a more complicated one you can always park a second car on ahead and come back to the other one later.)

Jurassic Way Walk

Pick up the Jurassic Way footpath just outside Sibbertoft and walk through Sulby along the Jurassic Way.  After arriving at the Welford and Sulby Reservoirs you have a number of options, such as a food and drink stop off at the Wharf Inn.  

Bradgate park

Bradgate Park is a public park in Charnwood Forest, in Leicestershire, England, northwest of Leicester. It covers 850 acres with breathtaking views and lots of deer!

Walk to the red lion

Our local pub is just 1 mile away in the village of Sibbertoft. They serve food and takeaway too. The short walk is on a main road so please bear this in mind if planning to walk there with children.

oxendon Tunnel 418m

Take a torch for this one!  Drive about 5 miles and park up near the Great Oxendon tunnel. The former railway track runs from Harborough to Northampton and makes for a pretty safe bike ride with children too.  Children big and small love this tunnel which is almost 1/2 km long.  Have fun playing with the acoustics and hold hands!
